About Salt and Light ABA
At Salt and Light ABA, our work is rooted in our Christian values of compassion, service, and integrity. We believe every child is uniquely created with purpose and potential, and we are committed to supporting each family with care, respect, and understanding.
Our goal is to reflect these values in the way we serve—through patience, encouragement, and a genuine commitment to helping children and families thrive. We strive to answer our call to be the salt of the earth and light of the world.
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Stevie Mefford, founder of Salt and Light ABA.
I am a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst with a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Kentucky. I have worked with individuals with autism, behavioral disorders, and other disabilities for over 8 years.
I started this practice with a simple goal—to provide high-quality, compassionate ABA services that truly meet rural families where they are. Through my experience working with children and families, I saw firsthand how powerful individualized support can be when it’s done with consistency, patience, and care. I believe all of God’s children deserve quality care.
As someone who was raised and continues to live in Carroll County, I understand the unique challenges that families in rural communities often face. Limited access to services, long waitlists, and the need to travel for care can make getting support feel overwhelming. That understanding is a big part of why I chose to build a practice that brings services directly to families—whether in the home, clinic, or community.
I believe that progress looks different for every child. That’s why I focus on building meaningful relationships, creating personalized plans, and supporting not just the child—but the entire family.
At Salt and Light ABA, my mission is to help children build skills that lead to greater independence, confidence, and connection in their everyday lives.
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach to helping children with autism learn and develop important life skills.
ABA focuses on understanding how behavior works, how learning takes place, and how to teach meaningful skills in a way that is supportive and effective. Therapy is individualized for each child and may focus on areas such as:
Communication and language
Social skills
Daily living skills
Reducing challenging behaviors
At its core, ABA uses positive reinforcement and structured teaching strategies to help children make progress in ways that are meaningful to them and their families.
Our approach
At Salt and Light ABA, we take a compassionate and individualized approach to care.
We focus on:
Meeting each child where they are
Building strong, trusting relationships
Using evidence-based strategies in natural, supportive environments
Collaborating closely with families every step of the way
We provide services in the settings that matter most—including your home, in the clinic, and out in the community—so that skills can be practiced and applied in real-life situations.
